MDC Fire Doors | Job Opportunity: Bench Joiner

As a Bench Joiner at our fire door manufacturing facility, you will play a vital role in the production of high-quality fire doors and related products. Working with a team of skilled joiners, you will be responsible for crafting and assembling components to create fire-resistant doors that meet industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in joinery, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to producing top-notch fire doors.

Salary: £20,000 - £25,000

Location: Knowsley

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday - Friday

Responsibilities:

Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work orders to understand product requirements.
Select and measure materials, ensuring they meet quality standards and comply with fire safety regulations.
Operate various woodworking machinery such as saws, planers, and routers to cut and shape wooden components accurately.
Assemble door frames and panels by joining different parts using traditional joinery techniques and adhesives.
Apply fire-resistant treatments and finishes to doors, ensuring they meet the required levels of fire resistance.
Perform quality checks to verify the dimensions, alignment, and finish of completed doors.
Collaborate with colleagues to troubleshoot and resolve any production-related issues or challenges.
Maintain a clean and organised workspace, ensuring tools and equipment are properly maintained.
Adhere to health and safety regulations and follow safe work practices.
Stay up to date with industry trends, techniques, and regulations related to fire door manufacturing.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Bench Joiner or similar role, preferably in the production of fire doors or woodworking industry.
Strong knowledge and understanding of joinery techniques, including measuring, cutting, and shaping wood.
Proficient in operating woodworking machinery and hand tools.
Familiarity with fire safety regulations and requirements related to fire doors is advantageous.
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work with precision to ensure accurate assembly and alignment of door components.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot production issues.
Good physical stamina and the ability to withstand repetitive tasks and lifting heavy materials.
Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
Commitment to workplace safety and following proper protocols.
